New York's Amazon Tax.

We are watching...we may have to pull the plug and not ship any orders to New York starting June 1st.  in protest of the law even though the present law does not effect us.

New York residents. Effective June First of this year your legislature has declared that Amazon.com and others must collect and pay sales taxes to your state even though they don't have a physical presence in the state if a New York resident has a web site with a banner ad and receives a commission.

Remember this is about much more than either Amazon or New York. It is about the future of ecommerce and your choices online. It directly affects any New York resident who earns commissions from links to other web sites because some affiliate programs are already pulling the plug on their NY affiliates, depriving them of income.

The effect is two fold: NY residents lose revenue and the state collects no sales tax. No one wins, everyone loses.
